After a courageous, two-year battle with cancer, our beloved Genevive Renee Ward, 38, of Washington was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2026, in UPMC Washington Hospital.
Gen was born on July 14,1987 in Washington Hospital to her loving parents, Deborah and Gerald Ward, with whom she lived with her whole life.
Genny was a 2006 graduate of Trinity High School.
Genny loved spending time with her family, especially all of her nieces and nephews.
She loved it when the whole family got together and truly cherished those times. She loved playing CLR, bingo, doing crafts, going to "Art on the Avenue", horses, highland
cows, and her cat Sammy. She was obsessed with all things Stitch.
Genevive was a devoted Christian and member of Life Church in Washington and prior to that was a member of Grace Bible Church. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her church family and giving praise to God.
Gen saw the good in everyone and loved with all of her heart. She was an inspiration to many and anyone who knew her loved her. She was a kind, caring, beautiful soul who touched many.
In addition to her parents Gen is survived by her three sisters, Amanda (Jason) Shrader, Christina (Larry) Berdine, Bunny (Michael) Ward and her one brother JR (Teresa) Ward; seven nieces, Mylee, Shaylee, Breanna, Kaitlin, Josie, Mayce, and Breea; seven nephews, Blake, Austin, Michael Shawn, Michael Dale, Fremont, Shaun, and Tyler; two great nieces, Bayleigh and Briella; and four great nephews, Maverick, Axel, Michael, and Hudson; as well as many cousins and one aunt.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Clifford and Genevive Stiles; paternal grandparents Fremont and Alice Ward; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Genny's legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 4 pm to 6 pm with a service to follow at 6 pm at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in Genny's name to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
