George Molinaro, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, passed away on January 10, 2026, in his hometown of Washington, Pennsylvania. He was born on May 26, 1949, in Washington, PA, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and sports.
George dedicated 28 years of his working life as a machine operator at Washington Steel Corporation, He was an honorable veteran of the United States Army, having served his country with pride.
An alumnus of Washington High School, Class of 1967, George was deeply connected to his roots. He was a big presence in the lives of those who knew him, characterized by his outspoken nature and infectious sense of humor. George had a large heart and a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued.
George loved the thrill of sports—coaching basketball and baseball brought him immense joy, and he was particularly passionate about Washington High School sports. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the statistics and histories of football teams and players. His loyalty to West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh football teams was unwavering, as he cheered passionately for both teams.
He shared a beautiful life with his loving wife, Patricia (Gloady) Molinaro, whom he married on November 12, 1971. Their love story began in the West End of Washington when they first met through his sister. Together, they raised a family that became the center of George’s world.
George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy (Timothy) Plute; his sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew Molinaro and Brian (Brittany) Molinaro; and his beloved grandchildren, Tritan Plute, Lyric Plute, Xander Plute, Burundi Bolden, Bryant Molinaro, Brayden Molinaro, and Brielle Molinaro. He is also remembered fondly by his brother and sister in law John and Kenny Molinaro and brother in law and sister in law Joe and (Kim) Gloady and brother-in-laws, John Gloady and Thomas Cowden and sister in law Peg Gloady, and his feline companion Finn. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews
George was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Cowden, and his parents, John and Laura (Buchanan) Molinaro.
A man of great character, George Molinaro leaves behind a legacy of love, community spirit, and enthusiasm for life that will always be remembered by those he touched.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Hospital in Oakland and Hospice Care Services OSPTA.
Catholic blessing services and burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private. Military honors will be accorded by the Edwin Scott American Legion Post #175 and the United States Army.
