Georgia Mae Fleming

Georgia Mae Sheppard Fleming, 73, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

She was born July 12, 1952, in Natchez, Mississippi, the daughter of Bernard Sheppard and Celia White Sheppard.

Georgia was employed in the business of housekeeping for over 40 years. 

She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall regularly.

Georgia enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

On July 7, 1980, she married Charles Clinton Fleming Sr., who passed away February 20, 2010.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Fleming Jr. and Steven Fleming; a daughter, Crystal Fleming; two brothers, Shelly Sheppard and Jimmy Sheppard; three sisters, Mary Jordan, Rosetta Monroe and Pam Carradine; five grandchildren, Jacob Fleming, Ciarra Fleming, Chloe Fleming, Keena Thomas and Xavier Thomas; and a great-grandchild, Nola Huffman.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a sister, Effie Spinks; and two brothers, Joseph White and Bernard Sheppard.

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will follow at 5:30 p.m., with the Elder Frank Vargo officiating.
