Gerald Lee “Jerry” Longstreth, 66, of Washington, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, in his home. He was born November 21, 1951, in Washington, a son of the late Edison Lee Longstreth and Clemmie Zimmerman Longstreth. After growing up on a small family farm near Amity, PA, Mr. Longstreth graduated from Trinity High School with the class of 1970, where he was a member of the wrestling team A veteran of the Air Force (1971 – 1973), he served in Vietnam and Thailand, earning a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Longstreth retired from Jessop/Allegheny Ludlum where he worked in the bar mill for 25 years. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the Eagles Club, and a dedicated volunteer with TRPIL. Mr. Longstreth loved hunting, especially with his sons and father-in-law, and watching the Steelers and old westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He attended The Bible Chapel in Washington. Surviving are two sons, Scott F. (Taryn) Longstreth of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, and Nathan E. Longstreth of Pittsburgh; his best friend and companion, Dianna Carroll, with whom he shared a home for nine years; two brothers, William J. (Lucille) Longstreth of Washington and Larry (Paula) Longstreth of Finleyville; Diana’s children, Kimberly L (Bert) Allen of Avella, Charity L. Crothers of Bridgeville and Cottie Marie Richter of Canonsburg; and the mother of his sons, Debora Smith of Washington. Deceased are his father- and mother-in-law, James and Leona Smith. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 5th, with Pastor Zeb Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
