Gregory Porter, a beloved member of the Washington, Pennsylvania community, passed away  3 days shy of his 63rd birthday, on May 22, 2026. Born on May 25, 1963, in Washington, he carried a friendly and welcoming spirit that touched the lives of many throughout his 62 years.

Gregory was a proud graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, Class of 1981, where his journey of friendship and learning began. Those who knew him would recall his easygoing nature and his kindness that seemed to welcome everyone he met. A testament to his warm personality was the many friends he made in the Washington, PA area, all of whom admired his gentle and approachable demeanor.

A creative soul at heart, Gregory expressed himself beautifully through poetry. His creative writings reflected a thoughtful and introspective mind, adding another dimension to the many gifts he shared with those around him.

Among fond family memories, one Christmas stands out vividly—the joyous image of Gregory in the game room, energetically using his new "speed exercise bag," so spirited in his activity that the Christmas tree upstairs gently swayed from the vibrations below. Such moments encapsulate his lively nature and brought smiles to all who witnessed them.

Gregory is lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Coleen and Martin Mehlmauer; his sister-in-law, Mary Porter; his nephews, Aaron Mehlmauer and Daniel Porter with his wife Sarah; nieces Elizabeth Johnson with her husband John, and Patricia Kovacs and her husband Dr. Joseph Kovacs; as well as great-nephews Joseph Kovacs and Dylan Porter; and great-niece Isobel Johnson. He also be missed by his best friend Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patricia (Kervin) Porter, his brother Edward Porter, and his sister Carol Culp. Their memories remain with Gregory, held close within the hearts of all who knew him.

Gregory Porter’s legacy is one of warmth, creativity, and community spirit. His presence will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Friends are invited to the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave Washington PA 15301 on May 29, 2026 from 10AM to 12PM followed by a funeral service and burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
