Harold David Narigon, 89, of Washington, formerly of Hickory, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side on October 16, 2026, in Strabane Trails Village.
He was born on October 8, 1937, in Independence Township, son of the late Harold Lewis Narigon and Ila Frances (King) Narigon.
David graduated from Avella High School in 1955, upon graduating, he worked at a papermill, in construction, and then most notably for Columbia Gas. He proudly worked for Columbia Gas, retiring in 1997 as a supervisor.
He was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, supporting his church community by serving on many committees through the years, as well as playing on the church’s Dart ball team.
David was a storied man with a plethora of hobbies and interests over his lifetime. Looking back, he enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball and midget football teams, as well as being a booster for the Fort Cherry Marching Band. He also supported the Fort Cherry musicals for many years by helping build the sets and bringing designs to life. David was a member of Columbia Gas’s Quarter Century Club. As the years went by, cherished grandchildren came and brought so much light into David’s life. He greatly enjoyed supporting them, going to their sports games and events as they grew up. When fall came each year, you could find him preparing his famous apple butter for the annual Hickory Apple Festival hosted by the Volunteer Fire Department, where David was a previous member, and loved to support his local community. His kindness and compassion continued to shine brightly in his actions, as for 25 years, he delivered Meals on Wheels to elders in need. David’s most treasured hobby was by far woodworking, where his specialty was making beautiful clocks that he gifted to many special people.
On April 25, 1959, David married the love of his life, Cora (Sheller) Narigon, who survives. They spent 67 beautiful years together, sharing a marriage of love, faith, and family.
In addition to his wife, David’s legacy lives on through his sons, David Allen Narigon, Donald Lee Narigon (Kimberly Demotte), Douglass Scot Narigon (Sandy); a brother, Phillip Narigon (Carol); grandchildren, Aaron (Jenn), Ramiro, Jeremiah (Selena), Ashley (Brandon), and Adam; a great-grandchild, Nathaniel; a sister-in-law, Connie Kiehl (Bill); and many surviving friends and family who loved him greatly.
David was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Cowieson and Diane Narigon; a brother, Gerald Narigon, and a sister-in-law, Beverly Kaste (Fred). As David joins his loved ones in Heaven, he is finally reunited with his daughter, a sweet baby girl, who passed shortly after her birth.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided David.
