Harry Robert Miller

Harry Robert Miller, born December 29, 1944, in Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 13, 2026, in Chincoteague, Virginia—the cherished place he and his late wife, Hazel Darleen Miller, treasured for their vacations together. Harry’s final days were spent in the embrace of sweet memory, surrounded by the peace and beauty he had long associated with love, companionship, and comfort.

A devoted husband, Harry’s life was a portrait of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty. Since Hazel’s passing, he honored her memory daily, making the forty-minute journey—rain or snow—to sit by her grave. This steadfast devotion spoke volumes about the depth of his love and the gentleness of his heart. Harry’s love for his family was immense, as was his capacity to show it in uncomplicated, everyday ways.

He was a father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Harry is survived by his loving daughter, Christina (Shawn Coachman) Miller, and his adored grandchildren, Erik (Kayla Andrews) Miller and Troy (Larissa) Dunlop and great granddaughter Harper Rei Dunlop. He also leaves behind his brother, Charles (Judy) Miller, his sister-in-law, Ellice McAdams, and his nephew, Arthur (Cindy) Miller. He will also be missed by his fur baby companion Pumpkin.  

In his heart, Harry also carried memories of those gone before him: his beloved wife Hazel who he married on March 17, 1967 until her death on March 27, 2023, his parents Leroy Alonzo Miller and Leah (Crawford) Miller, grandson Cameron Cain, brothers Henry, Leroy and James Miller, sisters Edna Mae Epperly, Leah Leona Supler, Jane Miller and his brothers-in-law Edward McAdams and John McAdams.

With a spirit both big-hearted and unfiltered, Harry was known for his quick wit and a sarcasm that brought laughter to every gathering. His kind nature shone through even in moments of blunt honesty, making him both endearing and unforgettable to those who knew him. Hard work was an integral part of his character, and so was joy—Harry found happiness biking, and setting off on road trips or spontaneous getaways with Hazel.

Community and fellowship enriched Harry's life. He cherished his mornings at Bob Evans, enjoying breakfast and camaraderie with friends from the Assembly of God Church in Canonsburg. Faith held a special place in his life. Attending services at Mt. Hermon Church in Amity and at the Assembly of God church brought him comfort and hope, fortifying him with lasting friendships and purpose.

Harry carried himself with integrity, forged during his honorable service in the United States Army. The discipline and pride with which he served his country never left him, and it resonated through his actions and choices throughout his life.

Though Harry’s physical presence has left this world, his memory endures—in family, in cherished stories, in quiet acts of love, and in laughter around breakfast tables. His legacy is one of loyalty, warmth, and spontaneous humor, of grand gestures and steadfast faithfulness. Those who knew him will hold tight to his memory, grateful for the time they were given and the example he set.

Friends and family are invited to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA 15301 on Wednesday July 22, 2026 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM .  A funeral service will take place on Thursday July 23, 2026 at 11:15AM followed by Military Honors accorded by the Edward Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and the United States Army at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
