Hazel “Christie” Agnew, 83, of Washington, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026.

She was born September 10, 1942, in Wolfdale, a daughter of the late James Dennis Agnew Sr. and Gladys Kraeer Agnew.

Christie was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School.

In June of 1960, she began working for Cameron Coca-Cola for 39 years. In September 2004, she retired from Washington County Prothonotary’s Office as Assistant Deputy Prothonotary.

She was a member of and ruling elder at Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she held various positions. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching adult SS classes.

Christie enjoyed riding and showing Quarter Horses for many years, bowling in leagues at Alpine Club, and exercising at the gym for many years. She also loved to dance. Her faith in God never wavered.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Mindy (Rich Jr.) Earliwine, the Rev. James (Luann) Agnew, Lisa O. (Dave) Hasson and Major Randall (Melany) Agnew; her great-great-nieces and nephews, Mandy, Jimmy, Alyssa, Korynn, Robert, Kristen, Alexander, Christian, Hannah, Joshua, Randi and Alesha; many great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and three cousins, Tom (Linda) Kraeer, David (Jill) Kraeer and Dick Sherman

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a brother, James “Denny” (Sonna) Agnew Jr.; a sister, Patricia Agnew Osso; a brother-in-law, Samuel Osso; a nephew, Sammy Osso; and a niece, Hailee Agnew.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, the Rev. Cindy Smith and the Rev. James Agnew officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
