Herbert L. Davis

Herbert L. Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and lifelong friend, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Washington Hospital. Born on April 10, 1952, Les’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, humor, and a profound zest for living.

Les was a graduate of Brownsville High School’s Class of 1970, a milestone that marked the beginning of a life full of meaningful achievements. He dedicated many years of his career to the International Paper Company, serving as a Superintendent, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting impact.

Known affectionately by those close to him as agitator in the best sense — someone who stirred life up with laughter and joy — Herbert embraced every moment he was given. His happy spirit and great sense of humor were infectious, lighting up every room and every heart he touched.

Among his cherished memories are adventures that spoke to his adventurous soul: getting stuck in a snowstorm in West Virginia with his buddy Bob, spending tranquil days fishing in Canada and hunting alongside his dear friend Ralph, and feeling the freedom of the open road as he rode his Harley with his friend Chuck Bogden. These moments reflected his deep love for life and the friendships he held so dear.

Les met the love of his life, Cheryl (Wieczorek) Davis, and married her on August 2, 1997—a union that blossomed into a beautiful family. He will also be missed by his children Danielle, Christina, and Tiffany, and the laughter and pride brought by their grandchildren Brock and Evan.

He was also a devoted brother to Don Davis and Melody (Davis) Bartowick, and a cherished childhood best friend to Ralph Rice. Herbert’s love extended to the memory of his parents, Herbert “Sock” and Wilda (Crawford) Davis Jr., who preceded him in death but live on in his legacy.

Les’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of UPMC Washington Hospital, 6th floor East, for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

Herbert L. Davis lived a life full of love, laughter, and memorable adventures. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever ride alongside those who loved him, a testament to a joy fully embraced and a heart fully shared.
