Howard Patrick Hill

Howard Patrick Hill, known to many as Patrick, passed away on September 17, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1978, in Pittsburgh. He will be remembered as a friendly, outgoing, and high-energy man whose presence brought life and warmth to those around him.

Patrick was a graduate of McGuffey High School, Class of 1997. Soon after, he began a proud period of service to his country, enlisting in the United States Navy on August 13, 1997. He served honorably until his discharge on August 10, 2009. During his years in the Navy, he served aboard two ships, the USS Barry DDG-52 Destroyer and the USS Anzio CG-68 Guided Missile Cruiser. His dedicated service was recognized with many honors, including three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, the Navy “E” Ribbon, three Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two NATO Medals, the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation, and a Flag Letter of Commendation.

Following his military service, Patrick worked as a mechanic in the coal mines. He was also someone who embraced enjoyment and adventure in everyday life, and he loved riding his Quad and his Razor. Those who knew him will remember the energy he carried, the easy way he connected with people, and the spirit he brought wherever he went.

He is survived by his father, Howard Hill, and his mother, Deirdre (Fleming) Hill; by his brother, Ryan Hill (Dana Stephans); and by his Aunt Ann and Uncle David Troxell, Uncle Richard Hill, and Aunt Marcy and Uncle Tom Walter, Aunt Brenna Fleming and Uncle Jim Stelmach, Aunt Shanna and Uncle David Marra, and Aunt Siobhan and Uncle Randall Clark and many cousins. He will be missed by his neighborhood friends; Jim and Judy Watts and their children Chris, Monica and Valerie whose shared memories of those early years remained a meaningful part of his life. Each of them, in their own way, shared in the story of Patrick’s life and will carry his memory forward with love.

Howard Patrick Hill leaves behind the memory of a man who served his country with honor, worked hard, and lived with enthusiasm. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
