Hubert “Herb” Ashman Carpenter (December 22, 1933 – June 17, 2021) Hubert “Herb” Ashman Carpenter, Jr., 87, of Washington, died on June 17, 2021, in Presbyterian Senior Care. He was born on December 22, 1933 the son of the late Hubert Carpenter, Sr., and Lucille Mae Belknap Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Ann Carpenter. Surviving is his sister, Inez Elaine Terry (Paul, deceased) of Crescent Heights. Herb was a 1951 graduate of California High School. Hubert Carpenter served our country in the Korean War. Mr. Carpenter worked as a bus driver, enjoyed watching Westerns on the television and going to the casino. Surviving him are his four sons, Richard (Robin) Carpenter, James (Beth) Carpenter, Charles (Michelle) Carpenter, and Ronald (Lana Lunde Baus) Carpenter; eight grandchildren, Jason (Tara) Carpenter, Derek (Christin) Carpenter, John Carpenter, Brandon Carpenter, Breanna Carpenter, Alyssa Carpenter, Ronald Carpenter Jr., and Kirston Carpenter; eight great grandchildren, Madelyn, Adriaunna, Brooklynn, Annabelle, Chase, Briella, Kincade, and Bentley Carpenter. Many nieces and nephews survive him including Lisa (Scott) Schlosser, Roger (Rhonda) Terry, Donald (Shelly) Terry, and Pamela Terry. Great nephew and nieces are Daniel, Victoria, Amber and Alyssa. Hubert leaves a longtime companion, Margaret Jane Bastian, and her granddaughter Tami Allum. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, the time of service, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, with Pastor Richard Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
