James Robert Black, 64, of Washington, passed away at home, early Saturday morning following a lengthy battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. James, or "Jamie" to friends, was born on September 13, 1957, in Washington, to Charles Richard and Mona Black. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1975, and attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he majored in business and was a proud member of the rugby team. He was a diligent and admired worker, having been employed at the Gage Company, and the many amalgamations of Home Loan Services in Pittsburgh. Jamie loved alternative and rock music, Pittsburgh sports, and going to the movies. His greatest joy was his close relationship with his children, Sarah (Matthew) Orient, of McMurray, Sean Black, of Cecil, and Jessica (Evan) Parr, of Scott Township. In addition to his mother Mona, who cared for him tirelessly, and his children, he is survived by his brother David (Rosalind) Black, of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; and sister-in-law, Toni Black, of Pittsburgh; nieces, Regina and Olivia Black; and nephews, Alex and J.T. Black. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Richard Black; and brother, Charles R. Black, Jr. Friends will be welcome on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 2 p.m until 4 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Dave Carver officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington City Mission (84 W. Wheeling St., Washington, PA 15301), which had a profound impact on Jamie’s life. The family would also like to thank OSPTA Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate end of life care.
