James Robert Evans, Sr.

May 16, 1929 — January 25, 2022

James (Jim) Robert Evans, Sr., of Washington, died in his home on January 25, 2022, and went to be with the Lord. Born to the late Martin and Elizabeth (Mastnock) Evans on May 16th, 1929, James lived life to its fullest. He attended Trinity High School until he was drafted into the Korean War, and he was stationed in Germany with the 12th Armored Infantry Division. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he returned to Washington, where he drove trucks, rode with a H-D motorcycle club, and eventually took a position at Jessop Steel, where he retired from over 30 years later. Jim always enjoyed riding motorcycles (up to the age of 87), working on cars and tinkering in the garage, fishing, bowling, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a sweet tooth, and we knew better than to challenge him at an ice cream eating contest. On October 11, 1964, Jim married his loving wife Angeline (Angie) Spino, and they had two children; Susan Elizabeth Evans and James Robert Evans, Jr. Jim is survived by his daughter, Susan Evans Diserio and her children, Isabella Angeline Diserio Pheasant, son-in-law, James Pheasant and Christopher Daniel Diserio; his son, James Robert Evans, Jr., his wife Donna, and their children, Madison Kelly Evans, and James Robert Evans III; many nieces and nephews; and his long-time companion, Frances Wise. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angie; and his siblings Violet Evans Tustin, Albina "Bea" Evans Strnisha, Harry Evans, Sr., and Karl Evans. God was Jim’s best friend and his Lord and Savior. He shared his Christian fellowship with his beloved congregation of Friendship Community Church, where he had been a member for almost 60 years. The family is honoring Jim’s request for all services to be private. Donations in his and his family’s honor can be made to Friendship Community Church, 1090 Weirich Ave., Washington, PA 15301, contact, Pastor Zeb Thomas. Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion, Post 175.
