James Folkens, 74, of Washington, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, with family by his side. Jim was born May 5, 1947, in Sewickley, beloved son of the late Albert and Madelyn (Risbin) Folkens Jr. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus and an Oblate of St. Benedict affiliated with St. Vincent Archabbey. “May his soul rest in peace forever.” He earned his BS from University of Miami and MS from Florida International University, Miami, Florida, and for several years worked as Director of Finance for PVA in Washington, DC. Jim served in U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division, and in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded three bronze star and two purple heart medals. He was a lifetime member of American Legion, VFW and DAV organizations. An avid hunter and trap shooter, he was a lifetime member of Trap Shooter Association of America. Deeply missed by his sister, Sara Godley, nephew James (Leslie) Godley, and their twin boys: Timothy and William, as well as many relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 14, 2-4 p.m. and 6 to 8 pm, Funeral cortège will leave William G. Neal Funeral Home on Monday, at 9:30 am and proceed to Immaculate Conception Church for 10:00 am Requiem Mass, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. The family has requested that visitors please wear a facial covering.
