We bid a loving farewell to James “Jim” Albert Garber, Sr., 68, of Washington, who passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Premier Healthcare in Washington.
He was born on January 31, 1958, in Washington, PA, son of the late Raymond Thorton Garber and Ida Eva (Schrader) Garber.
Jim attended Trinity High School; he went on to work in facility maintenance, retiring from Washington High School after 32 years of loyal service.
He enjoyed playing the lottery, gambling, and having a good drink with friends and family; he particularly loved his dog, Chloe.
Jim is survived by son Timothy D. Garber; daughters, Jamie Garber and Rebecca Garber; brother Glenn Garber; sister Laurann Garber; grandchildren, John McCloskey, Clayton Grandon, Kelley Prowitt, Ryan Prowitt, and Maddox Garber; great-grandchildren Sophia Hatfield, Amelia McCloskey, and John Raymond McCloskey IV; and several nieces and nephews, as well as friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by two children, James “Jimmy” Garber, Jr. and Kelley Garber; siblings, Mary Lou Spease, Thelma Jenkins, Elsie “Teach” Jenkins, Raymond Garber and William (Hawk) Garber.
Family and friends will be welcomed from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7,2026, at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington; a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
