James Lewis “Bones” Harris, Sr., 85, of Washington, went to Heaven peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2019, in his home. He was born on March 20, 1933, in Washington, a son of the late Leroy and Anna Reed Harris. Mr. Harris attended Trinity High School. Following high school, he entered the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1953. Jim worked at Jessop Steel Company for 31 years, before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Christian Church of North America. Jim was a life member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, a life member of the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation; and was an avid hunter and fisherman. On September 29, 1951, he married Jean Mazzie, who survives. Last year they celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. Also surviving are a son, James (Shari) Harris, Jr., of Washington; two daughters, Christy (Michael) Yankovich, of Washington and Diane (Denny) Confort, of Washington; a brother, Jack Harris, of Gretna, VA; six grandchildren, Dacia, Dia, Karlee, Jim V., John and Gina; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019, with Rev. Rob Berk officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church of North America, 605 Shirls Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
