James Harris, a beloved father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 10, 1947, in Greene County, Pennsylvania, Jim’s life was marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his country.

Jim proudly served in the United States Marines, spending 14 months in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. His commitment to service was a testament to his strong character and sense of duty.

Following his time in the military, Jim embarked on a successful career with Washington Pa Waste Management, where his hard-working nature shone brightly. He was known for his diligent work ethic and his ability to bring a smile to those around him. Throughout his life, Jim exemplified a great sense of humor that brought joy to his family and friends.

A graduate of West Greene High School, Jim cherished his memories of cooking Christmas dinner, a tradition that highlighted his nurturing spirit. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and tending to his horses and donkey, sharing these passions with his loved ones.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen (Legerski) Harris, and his three daughters, Tracy (Scott) Pettit, Teresa (PD) Galentine, and Tina Jo (Brandon) Santoro. He is also remembered fondly by his bonus son, Mark (Jodi) Phillips, and his adoring grandchildren: Adam (Karlie) Pettit, Devon Pierson, Shannon, Tyler, Devlin Santoro, Dustin, and Paige Galentine, as well as Joel and Jordan Phillips. He will be missed by his great grandchildren Marshall, Warren, Jayden, Tucker and Willow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nellie (Tuttle) Harris. and his 4 legged companion Trixie. Jim is also survived by his sister, Von (the late Bill) Pettit, and his brothers, Robert (Kay) Harris and David (Alena) Harris, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Friends and Family will be received from 11AM to 1PM at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA 15301 on February 4, 2026 followed by a funeral service at 1PM. Military honors will be accorded by the Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post #175 and the United States Marines at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
