James Michael “Mike” Johnston, 72, of Washington, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025.
He was born August 13, 1952, in Sewickley, a son of the late James Edward Johnston and Patricia Rose Riley Johnston.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School.
He was employed as an iron worker for Local 3 Iron Workers Union.
Mike was a member of the Arms Club, Pulaski Club, Keystone Club and Elks.
He enjoyed playing games, from bridge and pinochle to family favorites, cribbage and parcheesi. He was always down for a good book. Mike was also an avid golfer, so much so that if he were not on the links, he would play fantasy golf. Most of all he was a proud grandfather “pappy” and loved spending time with his family.
On September 29, 1979, he married Donna Marie Hughes Johnston, who passed away June 19, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Scott (Angela) Johnston; two daughters, Amanda (Harry) Dobson and Natalie (Michael) Coll; a brother, Doug (Julie) Johnston; four sisters, Susan McDade, Linda Michael, Grace (Bill) Wegner and Jane Bowling; 10 grandchildren, Skylar, Cameron, Kyler, Lyleigh, Paisley, Adysen, Benjamin, Charlie, Delilah and Evan; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Daniel Johnston.
Family and friends will be received from 12 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m., the hour of a Celebration of Life, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
