James Van Pearson, Sr., 84, of Washington, died on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in his home.
He was born July 20, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late John Pearson and Eva Toland Pearson; he was one of their ten children.
Jim was a graduate of Washington High School.
He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army as a Military Policeman.
He retired from work as a Security Guard.
On August 2, 1997, Jim married Chiquita Leann Amos who died on February 12, 2025.
He was a member of the Slovak Club, American Legion, as well as the Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club, which he greatly enjoyed; he was a Pittsburgh sports fan and liked casual trips to the casinos; he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Jim was an amazing, awesome Dad who always put his family first.
In addition to his wife Chiquita, he is predeceased by son John (Tonya) Pearson.
Jim is survived by sons Jimmy (Kelly) Pearson and Jarrod (Jody) Burbank; daughters Donita Busch, Rhonda Winters, and Michelle (Josh Goldbogen) Burbank; many grandchildren including Hailey Pearson, Ashley Burbank, and Ryan Burbank; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters Kathleen and Marge.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday. July 20, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where Military Honors will take place at 7 p.m. followed by funeral service.
Interment is private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife and fellow veteran, Chiquita Amos Pearson.
