Janet E. Spence

Janet Evelyn Spence, 88, of Washington, died Friday, October 5, 2018, in the Washington Hospital. She was born April 20, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of the late Ivan Mankey, Sr., and Metta Gooden Mankey. Mrs. Spence attended Washington High School and worked as a glass packer for Brockway Glass. On December 11, 1947, she married Charles Lee Spence, who died October 24, 2008. Surviving are four sons, Richard Mark Spence, Frederick Wayne (Nancy) Spence, Daniel Rea (Treva) Spence and David Lee (Kathy) Spence; a daughter, Sandra Lee (Frank) Sprock; a brother, Ivan Mankey, Jr.; a sister, Beverly Bails; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 10th, with Pastor Ron Ringer officiating.  Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
