JoAnn Marshall, 81, of Washington, died on Friday, October 12, 2018, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 19, 1937, in Roney’s Point, WV, a daughter of the late Leonard Duncan and Joanna Grimes. Mrs. Marshall devoted much of her life to being an advocate for the intellectually disabled, especially those with Down’s Syndrome. She loved taking care of her family, and enjoyed gardening. On December 27, 1972, she married David L. Marshall, who died on March 16, 2016. Surviving are two sons, Ralph (Dana) Sheppard, of Bethel Park and Mark (Sharon) Sheppard, of White, GA; and a daughter, Kimberly (Garry) Lightner, of Washington; six grandchildren, April (Tim) Serafini, Abbey Sheppard, Moriah Sheppard, Mitchell Sheppard, Matthew Lightner and Wesley Lightner; and a great grandchild, Gavin Serafini. Deceased is a daughter, Heather Ann Marshall, two brothers, and two sisters. Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Cemetery
