Washington

John Robert Chase, 86, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 3, 2026.

Born October 10, 1939, in Washington, he was the son of the late John Brady and Ann Baginski Chase.

John will be remembered for his sense of humor, playful spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. He and his beloved wife, Janet, were married for 60 years, sharing a remarkable 70-year journey together.

John graduated from East Washington High School, where he played football for the Galloping Ghosts. He proudly served in the United States Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard, and later retired as a respected, skilled carpenter at Pella Windows & Doors.

A dedicated supporter of the Wash High Little Prexies sports teams, John also coached youth football and wrestling at the Brownson House during the 1970s. His generosity and willingness to help others were evident in the many hours he spent volunteering his time and carpentry talents to Washington High School and Immaculate Conception Church. John was of strong faith and a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception.

Above all, John treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet Leaver Chase; his sons, Michael Chase and John (Melanie) Chase; his daughter, Kristen (Randy) Gore; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Chase and Jordan Chase. John’s legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
