John Pirillo, Jr.

John Pirillo, Jr., 92, of Avella, died on Friday, July 20, 2018, in his home. He was born on October 12, 1925, in Avella, a son of the late John Pirillo, Sr., and Susie Pascuzzi Pirillo. Mr. Pirillo was a veteran of the United States Navy. For more than thirty years, he worked as a crane operator for Climax Molybdenum Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 643, in Avella, and the Avella Sportsmen’s Club. John loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. In June 1949, he married Norma Jean Phillips, who died on November 14, 1989. Surviving are a son, John (Sandy) Pirillo, of Avella; a daughter, Beverly (James) Dellaria, of Washington; two sisters, Violet Hines, of Washington and Mary (Ron) Kovach, of La Porte, Indiana; four grandchildren, Melissa, JoAnn, John and James; and seven great grandchildren, Amanda, Madelyn, Anthony, Jace, Giovanni, Jamie and Kaitlyn. Deceased are five brothers, Frank, Pete, James, Nick and Patsy Pirillo, and two sisters, Catherine and Dolly. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded graveside by the Avella American Legion Post 643. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Avella Sportsmen’s Club, P.O.
