John "Riley" Coffield

John “Riley” Coffield, 90, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in his daughter's home.

He was born April 16, 1935, in East Finley, a son of John Coffield and Belva Dillie Coffield.

Mr. Coffield was a 1954 graduate of Claysville High School, where he was prom king and class president.

He worked for Washington Steel Corporation, retiring after 40 years of service. Prior to working at Washington Steel, he worked at Beatty Buick.

Mr. Coffield loved to tinker with and repair John Deere tractors, restore classic cars, and, most especially, spend time with family and friends. He was a faithful supporter of both his son’s and grandsons’ motocross endeavors, and, in his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling the country in his RV.

Mr. Coffield was a member of the Covered Bridge Division of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

He was Methodist by faith.

Surviving are a son, Kurt Riley (Deirdre Jo “Dede”) Coffield; a daughter, Lisa Coffield (Dirk) DePaoli; sister, Ellen (Richard) Drosdick of Ft. Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Joshua Lee Wright, Zachary Ross (Haley) Coffield, Shane Riley Coffield, and Justin (Megan) DePaoli; several nieces and nephews; and his long-time companion, Susan Linville.

Also left behind to cherish his memory are his friend since childhood, Don (Martha) Lindley, his good friend Rick Chester, whom he referred to as his "hippie friend," Tony (Shannon) Nuccetelli, Jeanie McCullough, and Joe and Sara Jack; brother-in-law, Ronald Bell; and friend and physician Mark Mamros.

Deceased are his brothers and sisters, James W. (Ellen) McGuier, Faye Hess, Naomi (J.R.) Parker, and Katherine Bell; and his long-time friend, John McCullough.

The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Gateway Hospice for the care extended to Riley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, November 7, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8th. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
