With over 50 years dedicated to his career as a contractor, John was a man of remarkable accomplishments. He graduated with an Engineering Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an institution revered as the "Harvard of the sky." This educational foundation propelled him into a career where he used the fruits of his labor to change lives in South America. John was a multi-faceted individual whose hobbies and interests painted a picture of a man who embraced life fully. He enjoyed motorcycling and piloting, honing his skills in the skies just as much as he did on the ground with dump trucks and bulldozers. He had a unique flair for shooting guns from the hip, enjoying the thrill it brought. His adventurous spirit encompassed a passion for mission work, reflecting his desire to make the world a better place and help those in need.
In his cherished life, John shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, B. Laura (Roessler), with whom he celebrated many wonderful years since their marriage on August 15, 1957. Together, they shared myriad memories and milestones, including being honored with the Wycliffe Bible Translation Award, recognizing their dedication to promoting significant translation projects that aid language needs around the world.
John is survived by his three sons, Dennis (June), Samuel (Elizabeth), and David Weaver, along with a daughter-in-law, Debra Weaver. He took great pride in his grandchildren: John, Daniel, James, Andrew Weaver, Christina (Ola) Lindefelt, Jennifer Brennan, and Savanna (Neil) Barron. His legacy of love continues through his four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Gladys (Crowe) Weaver; his son, John Weaver; and siblings, Theodore, Vonnie, and Martha. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart, and their memories undoubtedly continue to linger on in his family's lives.
As we celebrate the life of John Ross Weaver, we remember a man of strength, kindness, and profound impact. His legacy will forever echo in the hearts of his family and in the community he served so passionately. May he rest peacefully, embraced in the arms of the Lord.
