Joseph “Earl” Phillips, 85, of Washington, died June 9, 2022, in Donnell House, Washington. He was born August 2, 1936, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph Franklin Phillips and Eva Newell Phillips. Mr. Phillips worked in construction and was a member of Local 286 Laborers Union. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, coon and rabbit hunting, and fishing, and loved his family more than anything. Mr. Phillips was a member of Friendship Community Church, Moose Lodge 22, and VFW 927. On March 20, 1970, he married Linda S. Horner, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Earl J. Phillips of Washington, Marcie (John) Efaw of Washington, and Jodi (Kirk) Benoit of Mooresville, North Carolina; a sister, Marie Phillips Allen of Washington; seven grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Cooper, Amy (John) Norman, Earl J. Phillips II, Brianna Andreoli Phillips, Chelsea Sanders, Kayla (Donny) Wacker, and Paige Raley; six great-grandchildren, Blake, Mackenzie, JC, Brooke, Eden, and Maggie Mae; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are siblings, Richard “Dick” Phillips, Jackie Phillips Milligan, Janet Phillips Swalin, Marcia Joetta Chambers. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 13th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 14th, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
