Joseph Edward Green

Joseph Edward Green, 81, of Washington, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, in his home.

He was born August 1, 1943, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Harry Hanson Green and Mary Belle Kennedy Green.

Joseph graduated from Canon-McMillan High School and received an associate’s degree in bookkeeping at Penn Commercial.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968 and was awarded the Expert Rifle Badge.

Joseph was employed by U.S. Steel, Washington Food Bank and Observer Reporter.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Joseph enjoyed genealogy, working on cars and vegetable gardening. He loved and was dedicated to his family and his church.

On August 2, 1974, he married Susan Hastings Green, who passed away August 10, 2019.

Surviving are two daughters, Jenna (Jeffrey) Young and Jamie Green; four grandchildren, Aidan and Lila Young and Mataya and Kasia Green; a sister, Joyce “Penny” Anne Miller; a daughter-in-law, Urszula Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are a son, Timothy Joseph Green; two sisters, Mary Davies and Geraldine Brochetti; and a brother, James Harry Green.

At the request of the deceased, arrangements are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.

The family will notify everyone of a memorial service for him to receive his military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
