Joseph John Sopcak, 80 of Washington, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at The Grove. He was born November 30, 1937 in Tarentum, the son of the late Joseph Sopcak and Pauline Slanik Sopcak. Joseph graduated from Tarentum High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Cooper Industries for 26 years as an engineer. Joseph was Roman Catholic by faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan. He also played semi-pro football in Kentucky. On September 13, 1997, he married Judith Kestner, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Joseph A. (Charmaine) Sopcak of Charleroi, Michael C. (Diana) Liston of Baden and Matthew C. (Shawna) Liston of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Amy M. Liston of Bethel Park; a brother, David (Geraldine) Sopcak of Tarentum; three grandchildren, Alexis Sopcak, Aidan Liston and Grayson Liston; a niece, Sharrie; a nephew, Kirk. At the request of the deceased, all services were private. Arrangements have been entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
