Karen Lee Caponi, 68, of Washington, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, in her home, following a six and a half year illness. She was born January 27, 1949, in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles Jessee and Nancy Cope Jessee. Mrs. Caponi graduated from Bethlehem Center High School and Penn Commercial. She was the first full-time employee of Washington Community Federal Credit Union, where she worked for 35 years before retiring. Mrs. Caponi loved classical music and ballet and enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. On December 7, 1968, she married Thomas Joseph Caponi, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Leigh Caponi of Washington; three grandchildren, Robert Nichols, Sarah Nichols and Michael Funaro; and two great-grandchildren, Angelina and Molly. Deceased is a sister, Kathleen Jessee.At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice of the donor’s choice.
