Washington PA

Karen L. Stainbrook, a beloved member of the Washington, PA community, was born on May 6, 1947, and she left this world peacefully at home on March 9, 2026. A graduate of Trinity High School, Karen was known for her tenacity and spirit. Throughout her career, she worked as a waitress in various local restaurants, where her tough demeanor and stubborn resolve were matched only by her innate kindness and generosity. Karen derived great joy from lending a helping hand whenever it was needed, earning her the affection and respect of those who crossed her path.

An animal lover at heart, Karen found wonder in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her time at Jamboree in the Hills, delighting in the music and community spirit that such gatherings brought. Her explorations at flea markets offered her countless treasures, each with its own story to tell, while her passion for genealogy led her to delve into her family tree, solidifying her love for her roots and heritage.

Karen’s proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly raising her son, Douglas (Diana) Appleby. She also cherished her family, leaving behind her stepson, Gilbert (Rachel) Stainbrook, and her beloved grandsons, Jordan Appleby and Justin (Shelby) and grandchildren—Rylee, Jaxon, Little Bert, Cassidy, and Derek.

As we remember Karen, let us hold onto the memories of her unwavering spirit and good nature, celebrating a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved. She may have departed from this earthly realm, but the impact she made on her family and friends will resonate for years to come.

As per Karen's wishes, services are private and entrusted to the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington PA.
