Daytona Beach

Lucille Simpson Holloway, 97, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, formerly of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025.

Born on October 11, 1928, in Washington, PA, Clara Lucille Simpson was the daughter of the late Paul S. Simpson and Clara Belle (Sword) Simpson. She graduated from Waynesburg High School and worked as a telephone operator and bank teller. In 1956, she married Bertram “Butch” Holloway, and together they built a life, welcoming their daughter, Amy, in 1970. Lucille was a member of the Eastern Star Lincoln Chapter 112, and she and her family attended First Christian Church, where she sang in the choir.

Upon Butch’s retirement, the couple became snowbirds, spending winters in Daytona Beach Shores. After his passing in 2006, Lucille made Florida her permanent home. There she found joy in visits from family and friends, community center classes, ladies’ lunches, card club, puzzles, and countless domino games.

Lucille’s steady presence supported those around her. She was a patient and caring wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a trusted friend. Creative in many ways, she loved music, had a gift for finding beauty in the everyday, and valued health and wellness throughout her life.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Bertram “Butch” Holloway; her infant son, Daniel L. Holloway; her parents, Paul S. and Clara Belle Simpson; and her siblings, Paul S. Simpson, Jr. (Gerry), Iva Jean Allison (Don), and William B. Simpson (surviving spouse, Linda).

She is survived by her daughter, Amy E. Holloway (Victor Barcelona); her beloved granddaughters, Maya and Nora Barcelona; her sister, Twylia Kay Cain (late spouse, Fred), and many nieces and nephews.
