Margaret (Plunkett) Calvert, born on September 4, 1931, in Houston, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2026, with her beloved son by her side. Marge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister whose life was marked by her deep love for her family and her unwavering commitment to nurturing their happiness.
Throughout her life, Marge cherished the role of a mother and grandmother, finding joy in the small moments spent with her family. She was known for her exceptional baking skills, especially her renowned apple pies that will be fondly remembered by her loved ones. Her interests extended beyond the kitchen, as she enjoyed playing bingo and card games. A supporter of Pittsburgh sports teams, Marge took immense pleasure in cheering for her favorite teams. She also had a green thumb, finding fulfillment in gardening and canning, activities that allowed her to share the fruits of her labor with those she loved.
Marge's proudest accomplishments were her loving family. She leaves behind her son, Dennis (Terrie) Calvert, and adoring grandchildren: Amy (Joe) Priest, Steven (Elaine) Calvert, and great grand children Brennan (Lauren) Hunsaker, Cora (Keagan) Murdoch, Cayden, Kayla, Jack, and Kate Calvert. Each of them carries forward her values of love and support. In addition to her immediate family, Margaret is survived by her cherished brothers: Chuck, James W. (Bev), and Wally (Bev) Plunkett, as well as her supportive sisters: Mary Donaldson, Jean Woznichak, Pattie (Greg) Dillie, and Millie (Bob) Kocenski. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she cherished deeply.
Marge was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ernest Calvert, with whom she shared a loving marriage from June 27, 1953, until his passing in 2002. She was also preceded by her parents, Paul M. and Dorothy (Bloser) Plunkett, her sister, Dorothy "Tootie" Meeks, and her brothers: Paul "Bub," William R., and Thomas Plunkett.
As we remember Margaret Calvert, let us celebrate her life, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love. A celebration of Marge's life will take place on Sunday February 15, 2026 from 12PM to 4PM at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA
