Martin E. “Marty” Williams, 90 of Washington, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Premiere Health Care. He was born September 14, 1927 in Washington, the son of the late Martin Williams and Mary Hayes Williams. Marty was U.S. Army Veteran, where he received the World War II Victory Medal. He worked at Cooper Power Systems for 37 years as an expeditor. Marty was a member of the American Legion Post #175, Moose 22, Washington, Fayette and Greene Counties Sports Hall of Fame, Washington City Roadrunners and Trinity High School “Class of 45”. He was an avid sports fan. On February 14, 1984, he married Pauline “Polly” Wilson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Don Chess of Washington; a daughter, Dana McCord of Avella; a sister, Shirley Curry of Lone Pine; a grandchild, Morgan McCord; and several nieces and nephews including, Brooke Wilson, whom he treated like a granddaughter. Deceased are two brothers, Charles and Shirls Williams and a sister, Mabel Strawn. Friends will be received Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of service, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Roger Raymond Fischer officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
