Mary Margaret Bungard, 87 of Washington, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at Transitions Health Care. She was born August 23, 1930 in West Alexander, the daughter of the late Paul Clarence Spragg and Sarah Virginia Craver Spragg. Mary was a 1948 graduate of West Alexander High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from West Liberty State College in 1953. She was a former member of the Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a first-grade teacher for 32 years at North Franklin Elementary School and raised Polled Herford cattle with her husband on their Canton Township Farm. After retirement, she delivered Meals on Wheels for six years and volunteered at the Salvation Army. Mary was a member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church. Mary enjoyed gardening and ceramics. She took a trip to Alaska during the 50th celebration of the Alaska Highway and visited with her dear friends Marilyn and Dan. On December 20, 1956, she married George Dewey Bungard, who died March 13, 2013. Surviving are a cousin, Jean Sheperd and two nephews, William Wilson and Dale Mincel. Deceased are three sisters, Anna Virginia Frederickson, Dorothy Busch and Paula Jane Dague. Friends will be received Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Pastors Tim Florence and Keith Hornung officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
