Mary Gladys Lang Iams, 93, of Washington, died Monday, May 4, 2026, in Southminster Place of Presbyterian Senior Care.
She was born September 20, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of Russell H. Lang and Goldie Thomas Lang.
Mrs. Iams attended Washington High School. She worked at Brockway Glass as a packer then in the housekeeping department for J.C. Penney.
Mrs. Iams was a member of First Lutheran Church in Washington.
She loved to play bingo, do word search puzzles, and the times spent dancing with her husband. She loved to watch the Kansas City football team as well as the Steelers and the Pitt basketball team.
On August 24, 1957, she married Donald E. Iams, Jr., who died March 15, 2017.
Surviving are two sons, James Day (Amy) and Donald Iams III (Kandis); a daughter, Darlene E. Day (Daren); a sister, Elizabeth Insana; seven grandchildren, Deyka Lipari (PJ), Danielle Paulen (Brian), Jessica Owens, Dr. Eric Day (Lindsey), Jayme Schuster (Patrick), Amber Garver (Brandon), and Donald Iams IV; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Clyde “Dick” Wilson (Mona), as well as many friends and other family members.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dr. L. Steven Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southminster Place (www.givetosrcare.org).
The family would like to thank the second-floor staff of Southminster Place as well as Gateway Hospice for all of the care and support provided to Mary.
