Mary B. Salamay, 79, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018. She was born September 17, 1939 in Follansbee, WV to the late Joseph and Kathleen (Cocco) Basile; also preceded in death by her husband John Salamay and brothers Joseph and Donald Basile. Mary graduated from St. Anthony High School, class of ’57, and Mount Aloysius College, class of ’59. Since her move to Ohio, she was blessed by the friendships she made through worship and music at New Albany Church of the Resurrection. She was the matriarch of a large family, including her children, Anne (Ed) Holmes, Margie (David) Stewart, Tony (Tracie) Salamay, Kathleen (Mike) Wakeness and John (Heather) Salamay; her Godson Keith (Ellen) Frederick and special niece Karen Staib; grandchildren: Ryan, Michael, Chris (Katy), Nathan (Cheryl), Noah, Emily, Cady, Matthew, Andrew, Natalie, Katelyn; 6 great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. A special thank you to Jackie Russler who brought so much comfort to Mary in her final days. Friends will be received Monday, October 22, 2018 from 12 to 1:30 pm with a 1:30 Blessing service at William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301; interment to follow at Washington Cemetery.
