Mary Jane Yevins, 94, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Washington Hospital.
She was born on January 25, 1931, in Washington, the daughter of the late James Sonson and Florence (Longo) Sonson.
Mary was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School.
She was Catholic by faith and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she a member of the Christian Mothers. Her faith was central to her life. She also volunteered at Immaculate Conception High School.
Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards, especially 500 Bid.
On April 26, 1952, she married Stephen Yevins, who passed away October 28, 2018.
Surviving are a son, Vincent (Missy) Yevins; a daughter, Stephanie (Kent) Hughes; seven grandchildren, Aleea, Jared, Brady, Stephen, Meredith, Matthew, and Erin; seven great-grandchildren, Jaymeson, Amelia, Aleena, Alivia, Grace, William and Alice; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, James (Leeann) Yevins; a brother, Vincent Sonson; and three sisters, Rita Fesko, Frances Mele and Lenora Jackson.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with Father Michael Peck officiating. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
