Washington

It is with heavy hearts that our family mourns the sudden and unexpected passing of Michael Lee "Mike" Dye, 70, of Washington, on Friday, May 15, 2026.

He was born in Washington on August 3, 1955, a son of the late Glen and Mildred Edens Dye.

Mike graduated from McGuffey High School, class of 1973, then earned his associate degree in drafting, blueprint and design. Mike worked as a bricklayer in the glass industry repairing glass tanks throughout the U.S., Mexico, Trinidad and Canada until his retirement in 2015. He was a 50-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #164.

Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, and golfing. In more recent years he enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, weather tracking, traveling and exploring new adventures. Mike was passionate about the environment and his involvement with Nature Conservancy. Above all, his greatest enjoyment was his family. He looked forward to visiting his children and grandchildren weekly. Whether attending the grandkids baseball or softball games, dance recitals, swimming, cookouts, holidays or the annual family vacation he was happiest when the family was all together.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Kimberly (Beecham) Dye; proud father to 2 daughters, Rachel Graper (Jason) of Valencia, Pa and Mandy Ruk (Bryan) of Greensburg, Pa. He was the best Pappy to Preston Graper (10), Layla Ruk (8), and Cadence Graper (6). Mike also leaves behind his sister, Laurel Dye, and his brother and best friend Scott Dye (Suzie) of Williamsburg, Va; as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dick and Deb Johnson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Dye.

Mike’s laugh, smile and sense of humor will forever be missed and remembered by family and friends. He meant so much to so many people throughout his life, including his cherished friend, Mason Cass (Louise).

Per Mike’s wishes, all services are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington PA 15301.
