Mildred “Midge” Stockdale, 89, of Prosperity, died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born February 12, 1928, in Vance Station, a daughter of the late William T. and Edna M. Ferrell Kimberland. Mrs. Stockdale graduated from Trinity High School in 1946. She owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband from 1954 to 1985. In addition, she worked at Dairy Queen for 21 years and as a matron for the Intermediate Unit. Mrs. Stockdale was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed square dancing, loved to mow the lawn, and adored her dog, Bailey. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. On October 7, 1947, she married John Doyle Stockdale, who died January 28, 2013. Mrs. Stockdale has missed him every day since his death. Surviving are three sons, David M. (Wendy), Brian Douglas (Maryann), and Patrick Doyle (Cindy) Stockdale, all of Prosperity; a sister, Shirley (Frank) Huffman of Washington; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Shaun, Brian, Daniel, Melia and Maylei; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Rebecca and Sherry. Deceased are a daughter, Sandy S. Nolan, and a sister, Ruth Harshman. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 8th, with Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
