Patrick Neil Thomas, 54, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, on Monday, March 30, 2026.
He was born on March 28, 1972, in Silver Springs, Maryland, the only child of Bridget “Lovey” (Bannon) Thomas and the late Alvin Neil Thomas.
Patrick was a 1990 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and continued his education at Indiana University of PA.
He was employed as manager at VFW#191 in Canonsburg. While not a veteran himself, Patrick was a loyal and passionate supporter of his veteran community which became “family” to him.
He brought the members and community together by organizing the Annual Chili Open Golf Outing, donating the proceeds to local Fire Departments; coordinating the Flag in/Flag removal process from the graves of veterans; and planning all holiday events and parties, perfecting every detail from decorations to food preparation to make the club feel just like “home."
Patrick was truly charismatic with a boyish charm; family were friends and friends were family.
He will be remembered for many unique qualities:
He was a talented artist and an avid golfer.
He could never turn down the opportunity to get behind a microphone and sing “Mustang Sally."
His ability to recall and recite lines from movies.
His knowledge of music.
His quick witted, one liner comments.
Those who truly knew Patrick will always remember him for his heart.
In addition to his mother, Bridget (“Lovey”), Patrick leaves behind his beloved partner, Bethany Dragich and her adored son, Jack, and several cousins throughout Ireland, England and New Zealand, including Fr. Michael Byrnes from Ireland, who will offer prayers at Patrick’s Committal.
Family and friends will be welcomed at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, where a Farewell Gathering will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray, with Committal Prayer by his cousin, Fr. Michael Byrnes.
