Rev. Floyd C Marasco

Rev. Floyd C Marasco passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. He was born on November 21, 1922.

A man of deep faith, quiet strength, and sincere devotion, Rev. Marasco lived a life marked by service to God, love for his family, and care for those around him. He became a Christian in 1939 and spent the rest of his life serving the Lord. For more than 40 years, he served as the minister of Friendship Community Church, where his faithful witness and steady presence touched many lives. Those who knew him remember him as quiet, caring, authentic, and very sincere. He was a loving father and a nurturing man whose faith was reflected in the way he lived each day.

Rev. Marasco was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1940, later attending Washington and Jefferson College for a short time. He owned and operated the Marasco Barber Shop, a familiar part of the community and an important part of his working life. On July 14, 1946, he married his beloved wife, Joan Pallette Marasco, beginning a marriage and family life that remained central to his heart.

He also answered his country’s call in a time of war, enlisting in the United States Army Air Force on December 11, 1942, the day Germany and Italy officially declared war on the United States. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1946.

Beyond his work and ministry, Rev. Marasco found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful pursuits. He enjoyed playing ping pong, Flinch, and eating ice cream. He sang in a barbershop quartet with the Christian Businessmen's organization, sharing both fellowship and music. He also wrote a book, Tylerdale as he remembered it, preserving memories that were dear to him. He was a man of faith who served his family faithfully, and together with his wife, he cared for many family members over the years.

Among the accomplishments that meant the most to him were his family and spreading the word of Jesus. He took great pride in sending his children to college and in witnessing the successes of his grandchildren. His was a life rooted in commitment, humility, and love, and that legacy continues in the family he cherished so deeply.

He is survived by his children, Christine (Everett) Sechler, Paulette (Gary) Stout, Floyd (Sonya) Marasco Jr., and Amy (James) Simpson; his grandchildren, Joel Sechler, Joshua Sechler, Timothy Simpson, Stephen Simpson, Debbie Jo Macre, and Angela (James) Callen; and his great-grandchildren, Clara Sechler and Audia Sechler.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Pallette Marasco; his daughter, Rebecca Angeline Marasco; his father and mother, Salvatore and Angeline (Oliverio) Marasco; his brothers, Eugene Marasco and Henry Marasco; and his sister, Mary Rebecca Marasco.

Friends are invited to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave Washington PA on September 8, 2026, from 10AM until and including the service at 1PM. Full Military Honors to follow at Washington Cemetery accorded by the Edward Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and the United States Army.
