It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Marland Myers, who left us to be greeted by the loving embrace of his beloved wife, Wilma, in heaven on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 94.
Born to Mary Virginia Marland Myers and Charles D. Myers in Bradford, PA. Richard was a dedicated family man, proud United States Army Veteran, and was beloved for his easy going nature.
Richard graduated from Washington High School, class of 1950, and began attending classes at Duquesne University, completing two years of education through their pharmacy program. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army, working as a combat engineer, excelling at his work, until he decided to end his military career in 1954.
After his devoted military service, Richard went on to serve both the local West Virginia and Pennsylvania areas as a Manager of Operations for National Church Supply, a position he held with pride until his retirement.
In a twist of fate, Richard met his beloved wife and soulmate, Wilma V. Myers, on a blind date. The two would marry only six months later, on May 31, 1957, in a heartfelt ceremony at Trinity Episcopal Church. The two lovebirds continued to grow a beautiful life together, raising two children, Ann Marie (James) Myers Insana and Richard (Lisa) Myers, whom he is survived by.
Beyond Richard’s career and familial achievements, he greatly enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, some of his favorites being an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan, loving to watch the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates; as well as keeping up with the stock market. Above all, Richard was a devoted father and husband, once saying that the day he and Wilma wed, they became one, and shared a deep unbreakable bond of love, trust, and family.
In addition to his children, Richard is also survived by beloved grandchildren Richard and Corbin (Theresa) Myers, two of the lights of his life, and cherished nieces and nephews, Shelly, Cheryl and Gary.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma V. Winters Myers; a sister, Matilda Ann Myers; aunts and uncles, Aunt Sis, Uncle George, Aunt Blanche, Aunt Natia, and Uncle Albert.
Richard was a shining example of a father, showing how family, love, and care for one another can transcend; providing his family with the support to accomplish their goals and being a strong figure to look up to. His legacy will be held in the highest regard by the loved ones he leaves behind, and they will carry the life lessons he taught them forever.
