Robert "Bob" D. Giacometti

Robert D. “Bob” Giacometti, 83, of Washington, died on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray. He was born on September 4, 1935, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph R. and Anna Jubas Giacometti. He attended Trinity High School. In the years prior to his retirement as a mechanic for GG&C, he had worked as the shop foreman for Suburban/Shortway Bus Lines. A founding and charter member, for over 55 years, at South Strabane Fire Department, where he had been past chief for nine years, Bob had fought fires during that whole time period.  He also helped run Bingo for the department. Mr. Giacometti loved spending time with his family, and traveling, especially to Lancaster, and out west to the Grand Canyon.  Bob was always working on cars, tractors and anything mechanical.  He loved the outdoors, cutting grass and riding his tractor. On July 12, 1957, he married Carole Wilson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert J. “BobbyG” (Tammie) Giacometti, of Washington; two grandchildren, Tiffany (Bryan) Yurinko, of Washington and Josh (Emily Lawson) Giacometti, of Washington; three great granddaughters, Shi (Zach Tharp) Thomas, of Burgettstown, Ashlee Yurinko and Alexis Yurinko, both of Washington; a great-great granddaughter, Aubree; two nieces, Kathy (Barry) Salsbury, of Claysville and Janice (Chuck) Reynier, of Washington; several other nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and several great great nieces. Deceased is a brother Joseph Giacometti. Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Robert Grewe officiating.A Firemen's Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018, during the evening visitation. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
