Robert Paul Cantaral

Jun 21, 1959 — Nov 5, 2026

Robert Paul Cantaral, of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 5, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1959, in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Bob will be remembered as a boisterous, direct, honest, friendly, outgoing, and persuasive man whose presence was felt wherever he went. He lived with strength and purpose, and the people who knew him understood both his deep convictions and the warmth that stood behind them.

A graduate of McGuffey High School, Bob went on to spend more than 25 years as a Union Carpenter. His skill, hard work, and pride in a job well done could be seen across the community in places such as Claysville Elementary School, Washington Hospital, the Nuclear Power Plants, SCI Greene, and the Washington County Jail. He was a builder in every sense of the word. Among the works closest to his heart were the family home he built and the bridge he constructed to reach it. At home, his craftsmanship became an expression of love: he built a treehouse for his children and even a swimming pool, creating lasting places for laughter, play, and family memories.

Bob’s greatest pride was his family. On May 5, 1982, he married his loving wife, Sherry, beginning a marriage that would remain at the center of his life. He loved nature and found joy in teaching his children about the world around them. He shared special time with his son through the back yard boy's archery club, and he coached his daughters’ softball teams, giving them not only his time but his encouragement, guidance, and steady belief in them.

He also carried treasured memories from earlier years, including riding the Gravatron 13 times with his son at the Jacktown Fair, a story made all the more memorable because his dad was not especially thrilled with the ride and it made him sick. It was the kind of family memory that stayed with him and reflected the humor and closeness he valued.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Cantaral, and by their children, Ashley Cantaral, Lauren Cantaral, and Cody Cantaral. The life they built together was the accomplishment he cherished most, and his love for them was evident in the home he made, the lessons he shared, and the time he devoted to each of them.  He will also be missed by his furry companions Bear, Brutal, Leo, Hugo and Sampson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Cantaral, and his mother, Priscilla Cantaral.

Robert Paul Cantaral leaves behind the enduring mark of a man who built with his hands, spoke with honesty, loved with loyalty, and gave his family the very best of himself. His memory will live on in the structures he raised, the stories that will be retold, and the family who meant everything to him.
