Robert E. Holmes, Jr.

Robert E. Holmes, Jr., 73, of Washington, died on December 15, 2018, in Shadyside Hospital. He was born on December 27, 1944, in McMurray, a son of the late Robert E. Holmes, Sr., and Martha May Simpson Holmes. A graduate of Canon McMillan High School, he was a former member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Holmes retired five years ago as a foreman from SMS Millcraft.  For the past year, he worked at Mong Fab and Machine Inc. Robert enjoyed all sports, and loved hunting, fishing, golf and work.  He also enjoyed his long daily walks. On October 7, 1995, he married Bonnie S. Thomas, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Dreama (fiancé Bill) Mecklenburg; a son, Damon (Chylise) Holmes; a brother, Raymond Wayne (Marsha Lynn) Holmes; a sister, Denise Louise (Gary) Stollar; two grandchildren, Melissa and Dale; a great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Gregory Paul Holmes; a sister, Linda Grabiak; and a brother, Duane Alan Holmes. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, with Raymond W. Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 333 E Carson St # 441E, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
