Robert Allen Kelvington, 80, of Meadowlands, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 9, 1944, in Moundsville, West Virginia, a son of the late John Verne and Margaret Rose Simmons Kelvington.
Robert honorably served in the United States Navy in 1962. He continued to serve his country until his discharge in 1968. He was very proud of his military service.
Robert completed his GED in 1985. He worked as a Machinist in the prominent Washington glass manufacturing company Ball Glass. He made glass pigments at Drakenfeld, now known as DMC 2. He retired from UBET on June 14, 2025, at the age of 80.
He loved riding motorcycles, fishing, golfing, hanging with his buddy, Kim Adkins. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, hunting, camping, but above all, doing all these things with his family. Robert was still working on cars in his 80th year.
On August 26, 1966, he married his loving wife, Janet Mae Kelvington, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John Robert Kelvington; two daughters, Peggy Ann and Bobbi Jo Kelvington; brother John “Jack” G. Kelvington; sister Patricia (the late Jim) Hull; grandchildren John Robert Kelvington, Jr. (Makaylee), Breanna Rose Snyder (Michael), Samuel Glenn Kelvington (Madison), Jessica Mae Cole (Chris), Elizabeth Rose Kelvington and Aubree Lee Workman; great-grandchildren Michael Jr. and Jameson Snyder, Jentrie Kelvington, Cierra and Elizabeth Cole, and another beloved great-grandchild due in January, 2026; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by his brother, Gary Wyatt Kelvington.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Robert’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Shiloh Fellowship Church in Washington, 147 Griffith Avenue with Pastor Robert Rizor officiating. The celebration will continue at “The Garage.”
