Robert Ralph Simpson, 100, of Washington, died on Thursday, October 11, 2018, in Evergreen Assisted Living in the loving presence of grandson Christopher, and in the arms of daughter Barbara. He was born on April 18, 1918, in Ellsworth, Iowa, son of the late Robert Gilkey Simpson and Ethel Richardson Simpson. Bob attended Shadyside Academy, Oakmont High School, and Iowa State University where he met his wife Reva Reynolds. The Simpson family made their home in Oakmont, close to Oakland, where his father was a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon).  With a stay at home mother, and father as a professor, his life with his family was rich with knowledge, sports,  music, and good food. Bob spent his entire working life in the glass industry, moving from Atlanta to Washington where he and his family made their home. He was plant manger for Knox Glass and Continental Can before retiring from Brockway Plant #11.
