On April 27, 2025, Ronald A. Cox went to heaven to be with his son, Christopher, and his beloved dog, Hoss, who both preceded him in death.
Ronald was born April 12, 1946, in Washington, PA to Lawrence and Betty (Stainbrook) Cox.
He was one of five siblings, Larry (Cathy) Cox, Amanda (Richard) Oberst, Becky Markley, and Barbara (Larry) Keenan.
Ronald graduated from Washington High School in 1964.
He was a commercial truck driver for fifty-four years. He drove long-haul for several years, knew every street in Pittsburgh as a local driver and retired from ABF Trucking in 1999. At ABF, he logged two million safe driving miles and drove triples on the Ohio Turnpike.
After retiring, he spent his time doing woodworking, traveling, and getting his friends together for lunch.
Ronald was a giving person who built a garage and filled it full of tools so he could loan them out to people who needed them. He knew how to fix anything.
He was an avid online shopper, instrumental in the success of Amazon. If it was out there to be purchased, he could find it and would buy it for you. No one ever “went without” around Ronald; he was a great provider and a friend to many people.
He was an expert storyteller and conversationalist, shared his knowledge freely, and made friends everywhere he went.
Ronald will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-four years, Linda (Yuvan) Cox; his son Michael Cox (Anita); daughter-in-law Keturah and her children Tyler, David, and Jasmine; daughters Robin Biers and Sarah Kraushaar (Jerry); grandchildren Benjamin Cox, James (Kara) Simonelli, Joshua Simonelli, Jesse Kearns (Kassidy D’Alessandro), Jensen Biers and Jacob Biers (Taylor Tilford); great-grandchildren Jackson Burthl, Daisy D’Alessandro, George Kearns, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Interment will follow at Claysville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Ron's memory to the Greene County Humane Society. https://greenepet.org/donations/memorial-donations/
