Samuel "Sam" Marra, a dedicated and loving family man, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, Linda (Burke) Marra, and their son, Samuel "Bill" Marra Jr. Born on January 15, 1946, in Washington, Pennsylvania, Sam's legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family.

Sam devoted 36 years of his life to the coal mines of Pennsylvania, where he worked at Montour Mine No. 4 and the Bailey Mines. His commitment to his work was evident, as he frequently worked on holidays to provide for his family while maintaining a strong reputation among his peers. Beyond his professional life, Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning an honorable discharge that he carried with pride.

Throughout his life, Sam cherished many fond memories. He was an enthusiastic coach for little league football games, instilling values of teamwork and perseverance in young athletes. A true sports fan at heart, Sam enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, celebrating their victories with passionate fervor. He was also known for his culinary skills, delighting family with his favorite dish, cabbage rolls, which became a family favorite over the years.

In addition to being a hard worker and devoted father, Sam was actively engaged in his community. He held the position of past President of the Washington PA Slovak Club for 14 years and was a member of the Polish Club.

Sam's interests extended beyond work and community involvement. He had a passion for working on cars and took great pride in yard work. He could often be found enjoying a ginger brandy and a beer, savoring the simple pleasures of life.

As he reflected on his proudest accomplishments, Sam often spoke of being a father and a loving husband, celebrating nearly 60 years of marriage with his high school sweetheart Linda in June 2026. His legacy will live on through his cherished grandchildren, Julia Marra and Jaidon Marra.

Sam is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Sophia (Wojcuich) Marra, and his brother, Franklin Marra. He leaves behind a profound legacy that will forever be remembered by his family and friends who had the privilege of knowing him. His hard work, kindness, and commitment to family will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life.

As per Sam's request he will be laid to rest privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  All services are entrusted to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA 15301
