Sandra Louise "Sandy" Thomas

Sandra Louise “Sandy” Thomas, 79, of Washington, passed away on August 18, 2026 in UPMC Washington Hospital.

Sandy was born on March 5, 1947, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Irwin Cowden and Lois Miller Cowden.

She graduated from Trinity High School in 1965.

After graduating, Sandy went on to become a secretary, working in both real estate and banking over the years.

Sandy was an avid reader, loving a good book, whether it was mystery, romance, or any story she could cozy up with and indulge. She also enjoyed playing board games, computer games, and tending to her garden.

In April 1981, she married her beloved husband, David F. Thomas, and they celebrated 45 loving years of marriage together.

Also surviving is a step-daughter, Amy J. (Don) Hall; brothers, William (Kathy) Cowden and Brad (Barbara) Cowden; a sister, Joyce (Tim) Inglis; a step-granddaughter, Keeley Hall; a brother-in-law, Verne Thomas; along with several nieces and nephews.
